-Hancock County holds a wealth of resources that often go unnoticed by residents. The county offers a variety of support to maintain the quality of life for its citizens. HHWP Community Action Commission services Hancock, Hardin, Wyandot and Putnam helping those who need support with utilities, prescriptions, extermination and transportation. The services are income based but it doesn't necessarily mean you have to have Medicaid. There are many seniors that loose a spouse and half their income and they need some help to figure out how to stay in their home and live independently.

Today I attended a meeting where HHWP gave some updates and details on programs that I want to make sure folks are aware of.

HEAP (home Energy Assistance Program - 1 time payment toward main heat source

PIPP (Percentage of Income Payment Plan - utility assistance)

Summer Crisis and Winter Crisis - 1 time help on cooling / 1 time help heating.

THIS PROGRAM IS IMPORTANT TO SHARE right now with the HOT TEMPS - Those who qualify the program can help assist with fixing your home cooling or if it is not fixable or you don't have central air the program provide 1 AC Unit and 1 Fan (or possible 2 fans). IF you know someone who is not managing the heat safely please connect them with HHWP !!!! 800-423-4304

If you go to a HHWP office in one of the 4 counties for help COME PREPARED with driver license, current bank statement and bills you need help with - utility, prescription or water. When you are prepared things are figured out faster!

It is a good idea if you have Medicare that we meet to review your coverage and costs. The goal is to save money and increase your healthcare and quality of life. There is no cost for me to help. I represent multiple carriers and work well helping folks who have Medicare with Medicaid or Veteran Benefits to understand their benefits.
